DESCRIPTION

This is a watercolor and inked illustration of a Cross River Gorilla. The Cross River Gorilla is critically endangered. According to the WWF (not the World Wrestling Federation) the World Wildlife Fund, there are only approximately 200 to 300 of these gorillas left in the wild. The Cross River Gorilla is scattered into 11 groups across the lowland montane forests and rainforests of Cameroon and Nigeria. Human activities surrounding their habitats have contributed to their diminishing numbers. Poaching is also a main factor that these gorillas are disappearing.
