DESCRIPTION
This female African elephant was drawn with charcoal pencils. I completed this painting before I was into watercolor. The watercolor textured background was added separately later. The status of the African Elephants is vulnerable. The biggest concern for the elephants is the demand for ivory, which has increased recently, and that has led to a surge in poaching. Another major problem that these elephants encounter is the human-elephant conflict. There is a need to increase public support for elephant conservation by reducing conflict, WWF trains wildlife managers and local communities to use modern methods and tools to mitigate human-elephant conflict (source, WWF).
