The St. George Church is situated right in the centre of downtown George Town, Penang. It is a very prominent structure in the middle of George Town’s bustling city centre. It is surrounded by several important colonial buildings in the area including the Penang Court House, the Town Hall and the City Council. It was built in 1817 and was modeled on the design of St. George’s Cathedral, Madras, in the Georgian-Palladian style. I started the painting with the clouds which I think turned out great. I then carried on painting the rest of the picture. It took a few layers of paint to get the grass on the foreground right, but I really enjoyed creating this piece.
